Official Battering Ram of ECB

I am proud to present the first nomination for Official Mascot of ECB. The rules are that he must have a great name, and some degree of talent. My nominee is:

blhblah #30 RB - Jehuu Caulcrick - Michigan St.

Jehuu, a 6-0 255lb. senior, qualifies through an impressive record as a four-year starter for the Spartans. With only 334 career carries (coming into today), Jehuu has racked up 1669 yards (for a healthy 4.99 ypc) and 23 touchdowns. Sounds like a season for Larry Johnson, right? He also has displayed some hands, hauling in 22 passes for 203 yards, an average of 9.23 yards.

Jehuu's family fled Nigeria when he was a child. His name is pronounced JAY-who CALL-crick (Northern) JAY-who COAL-creek (Southern).

wait, wait, wait... can we track down some of the Spartan fans who were ready to kill me back in June and show them that we're giving some dap to a Spartan?

They'll be back.

After all, what else is there to do on a Saturday night in East Lansing? They'll be Googling their favorite players all night.

This is my first visit to the blog, and I like it. I'm just wondering, though, why do you need a mascot?

j-red...is someone from the east coast an expert on the daily lifestyle of students of east lansing? hum....how many times have you been to east lansing let alone michigan. Michigan State is a very large campus with large student body...it is one of the chosen schools in michigan besides the almighty u of m. people who go to msu sing its praises until they die...once a spartan always a spartan. i on the other hand call it the devil school. the thought of going to that college is like driving a dagger through my heart. we mid-westerners have to stick together at all coast. Michigan may down, but we are certainly not out.

My ex-girlfriend is from Michigan. It sucks. There is no defending the state, or any schools therein, with the possible exception of Central and Western.

And to Mr. Hayward, we don't "need" a mascot (we have Brien's son). I just wanted to draw attention to the kinds of players who end up getting drafted in the 4th and 5th rounds and sticking around. This Caulcrick looks like an excellent candidate for a player who is well-suited to the pro game. Plus, we like cool-sounding names.

boy, j-red...now I know you have seen or know very little about michigan schools. I find it laughable at best that you can lump u of m or state with the likes of central and western. Central is in Mt. Pleasant...home of casinos and washed up lobby entertainment and Western...they try to avoid hitchikers at all cost due to the fact that this is were we house our dangerous criminals...Jackson prison. Sounds like you didn't have very many conversations with your girlfriend about the colleges housed within our state or you might of known those two fun facts~

Mr. Anonymous, I'm quite certain J-Red is just saying things to be inflammatory. In fact, I'm POSITIVE he made his comment about Central and Western just to get the EXACT reaction from you that he got. However, he forgot to include Eastern, that was his only mistake.

And all his Michigan comments are aimed directly at me -- or maybe his ex. But I doubt his ex is on this blog as often as I am.

You know, Mr. Anonymous, allegdly from Michigan, I just reread your post. What the hell are you talking about when you say Western is near Jackson prison? Jackson prison is in, hello, JACKSON.

Western is in Kalamazoo.

They're about 60 miles apart. Not a tremendous distance, but not enough to be scared of hitchikers. I'm still more scared in Ypsilanti (Eastern) than I am in Jackson, anyway.

got ya....of course I know that western is in Kalamazoo and what other yet highly priced and little know college is there? Michigan quiz 101. The fact is, my friend, don't talk smack about a state you know little about...some of us take offense.

Isn't Central located right near the base of my middle finger on the Michigan Hand Map?

I intentionally left out Eastern because they haven't made any noise on the football field or basketball court, unlike Central and Western.

I think we should just rename the blog "Michigan Flame-bait."

Seriously, though, did they just get the Internet in Michigan last week?

That's not directed at me, is it? If it is, I'm very confused.

As for his/her Michigan quiz, I have to admit, I'm not up to speed on my Michigan tuitions. But I'd have to guess among Albion, Calvin College and Kalamazoo College. I'm guessing Ferris State, Northern Michigan and Wayne State are too expensive...

Maybe Michigan Tech?

"ben" said...

Goly gee, I meant that Ferris, Northern and Wayne AREN'T too expensive, not ARE too expensive.

J-Red said...

Northwood is pretty expensive too I think. I would bet Albion is the most expensive in the state, probably creeping towards $45K/year all told.

J-Red said...

Oops. Northwood only $15K tuition. Albion at $27K/$35K all costs.

That's from Peterson's.

J-Red said...

And Brien, imagine how many comments we'd have if I had said bad things about Caulcrick, or if I had mentioned Tom Izzo's sexual obsession with young boys.

the guess goes to the one who said Albion...and no, we didn't just get the internet in Michigan, silly, we just got running water. I love the guy who is actually afraid of Eastern. let us raise a crack pipe in salute to all the students at EMU, but where else can you go to get into a decent strip club or an adult book store. Actually, I just found your blog a few weeks ago and find you guys very entertaining. I hope to check in often.

Wow, is this comment thread really happening?

Thank you, "anonymous," for a few good laughs.

Jackson is not scary at all.

My friend and I were recently discussing about how technology has become so integrated in our day to day lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further innovates, the possibility of downloading our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could experience in my lifetime.
