Found at the Nationals Team Store...

In the words of Rodney Dangerfield, "We just don't get no respect." Seriously MLB, you think you could maybe manufacture goods that are accurate on behalf of the Nats? We have enough trouble with idiots like J-Red who insist that the team is going to fail based upon the performance 30 years ago of two teams in a metropolitan area 20% the size of the current DC Metropolitan Area. But seriously, this? ECB readers, spot the error:I mean, damnit MLB, this is ridiculous. And if you don't really believe this is for sale, check out this link: http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2248977&cp=1503844.2089880. I wish it wasn't true.

That is beyond amazing. I wonder if any other teams have the same error.

Theory: MLB had too many AL patches. They said "Screw it, sew them on the Nats jacket. No one will buy it, and the ones who do won't even know the difference."

"It says American, like me!"

That's ridiculous. What MLB moron was asleep at the switch for that one? Might want to buy one, since glitches like that become collectors' items. Only problem is that it's ugly.

Maybe they just haven't announced the latest plans for radical realignment.

Wait, DC has a baseball team?

J-Red said...

Russell - The other problem is that the jacket itself might be correct and then you'd be stuck with an ugly-ass Nats jacket.

According to Paul Lukas at Uniwatch, the erroneous photo has been online for OVER A YEAR.

So few Nats fans are shopping for the jacket that MLB hasn't bothered to take out a digital camera and fix the image FOR OVER A YEAR.

Sports Authority has the same jacket for sale with the SAME error.

"ben" said...

Just to clarify, the image is wrong, but the actual jacket they make is correct.

Right? Please say right. It's still bad, but not quite as bad.

No, I posted this on a Nationals message board and somebody apparently ordered this jacket without first noticing the defect and received the pictured jacket replete with American League patch.

God is looking down on me today. First the Nats AL jacket, and now the Skins looking more and more rudderless.

What next? Coach K throws his back out again?

I recently saw an online store selling Expos bedding items. The Nats can't get any respect.

Everyone just simmah down. On the other sleeve is a patch for the National League. This is worst than that time everybody over reacted to the steroids thing.

It says it is from China.

Get it? It is all crazy backward like a Chinese Fire drill! And Chinese Checkers (they're MARBLES! HA HA!)

Oh, those wily Chinamen!

[Note - this derogatory and demeaning comment does not reflect either the views of ESPN nor does it apply to those Chinese who belong to the the Catholic Church]

J-Red said...

That's certainly not true of the image on the websites, and if it's true of the actual jackets I suspect that's because sewing the National League logo on the other sleeve was cheaper than removing the AL logo or tossing out all the mistakes.

J-Red said...

And please note what MLB calls the item:

Washington Nationals Full-Zip Track Jacket w/League Patch

Not league "patches".

J-Red said...

Also:

Features
--Full-Zip Track Jacket by Stitches
--100% polyester
--Team logo at left chest, with additional patch on left sleeve
--Front pockets; ribbed cuffs and waistband
--Made in China

Well that's just massively unfortunate. Haven't DC area sports fan suffered enough already?

Nate said...

Not to mention, the team name is the "Nationals." How hard is it to make sure the patch on a Nationals jacket says "National League"?

J-Red said...

Good point.

I can only guess that the guy in charge was so old that he thought Washington (nee Rangers, nee Twins) had to be an AL team.

This doesn't surprise me. Everything is made in China or some third world country nowadays anyway. Absolutely pitiful!! I wonder who they're going to sell all the stuff to when nobody in the U.S. is working anymore because all the jobs are overseas.
