I can't count all the laterals, but this shows why conditioning is so important. I can't imagine why the defense didn't just collectively say "F*** this, let's set up shop at the five"

I've read now that there were 15 laterals. Most impressively, all the pitches were clearly backwards. Also, no one offensive player thought they were faster than they actually were, and pressed for the end zone too early. All-in-all, near perfect execution of the desperation "keep the ball alive" play.
Is it just me, or did multiple defensive players clearly quit over and over again on the play? Or are you saying they were just that tired?
I think they were just worn out. After the 7th lateral, they were basically running suicides chasing the ball around. There aren't many DTs and DEs at any level of football who could run that many suicides.
